Research

My research ranges in bioengineering topics such as the production of bio-reabsorbable orthopedic devices from silk, decreasing methane emissions from livestock using probiotics, and creating environmentally friendly biopesticides from dsRNA.

Free Range Cows

Limiting Methane Production in Cows

Using genetically engineered probiotics in cattle to consume methane in vivo and produce useful metabolites.

Silk Screws.jpg

Silk Fibroin Reabsorbable  Screws

Utilizing silk fibroin's unique mechanical and biocompatible properties to design orthopedic screws that dissolve after implantation.

Brown Insect

RNAi Biopesticides

Developing RNAi targeting biopesticides from dsRNA to protect crops from pests without harming the environment.
